Terms of use
Last updated October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Kin & Kettle(“we”, “us”) for using Kin & Kettle. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we look after your information.
Your account and your family
- You need to be 13 or older to have an account. Keep your password to yourself; you’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- A family’s admins decide who’s in it and what role each person has. Everyone in a family can add recipes and edit their own; editors and admins can edit any of the family’s recipes.
- When someone leaves or is removed, an admin chooses whether their recipes go to another member or are deleted.
- If you signed up yourself, please confirm your email address. Until you do, you can’t invite people or share recipes, and after 24 hours the account pauses until it’s confirmed.
Your recipes are yours
- You keep ownership of everything you add: recipes, photos, notes, stories and reviews. You give us permission to store and show it to the people you choose (your family, and anyone you share it with), so we can run the service.
- Only add what you have the right to share. Family recipes are perfect; copying someone else’s published recipe word for word, or their photos, isn’t.
- You can download your recipes at any time, on every plan.
Sharing and the community
- A share link lets anyone who has it see that one recipe, without signing in, until it’s stopped.
- Publishing a recipe to the community puts a copy where anyone can read it, credited as you choose. We review each one first and may decline or remove any. By publishing, you allow us to show it publicly and let other families add copies to their own collections. You can unpublish it whenever you like; copies families have already added stay with them.
- Recipes saved from a website, or added from the community, can’t be published, since they belong to someone else.
- Only publish recipes that are yours to share: your family’s own, or ones you created. Don’t publish recipes copied from websites, cookbooks or magazines.
Copyright concerns
If you believe a recipe, photo or story on Kin & Kettle uses your work without permission, tell our copyright agent (below). You can also use Report on any community recipe. When a claim holds up, we stop the recipe being public: its share link stops working, it comes out of the community, and it can’t be shared again. The family keeps its own private copy.
A notice should include:
- your name, address, phone number and email address;
- the work you own that you believe has been copied;
- the address (URL) of the page where it appears on Kin & Kettle, so we can find it;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized by you, your agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you own the work or are authorized to act for its owner;
- your physical or electronic signature (typing your name is fine).
Our copyright agent: David Ramsey, Kin & Kettle, 52 Spring Grove Dr, Sherwood, AR 72120, 501-599-0360, hello@kinandkettle.com.
If your recipe was taken down
If you believe it was removed by mistake, or that you have the right to share it, send our copyright agent a counter-notice with:
- your name, address, phone number and email address;
- the recipe that was taken down, and where it appeared;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification;
- a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the United States, any district where we may be found), and that you’ll accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We forward the counter-notice to the person who complained. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they’ve filed a court action, we may allow sharing again within 10 to 14 business days of receiving it.
Repeat infringement
We may stop sharing for, or close, the accounts of people who repeatedly share others’ work without permission.
Plans and payment
- The free plan stays free, with the limits shown on the Plans page. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe, and renew until you cancel.
- A free trial of a monthly plan needs a card and is offered once per family. If you don’t cancel before it ends, your card is charged for the plan.
- You can cancel at any time from Manage family. Your plan carries on until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then your family moves to the free plan. Nothing is deleted, though adding more than the free plan allows has to wait.
- Payments aren’t refundable. If something has gone wrong, please contact us and we’ll do our best to put it right.
- We may change prices. We’ll tell you before a change affects your next bill.
Gift memberships
- A gift is paid for once and doesn’t renew. Its link can be claimed once, within 12 months of purchase.
- When a gift ends, the family returns to the plan it had before (or the free plan), unless they choose a paid plan. If the family already pays for a plan, its billing pauses during the gift.
Please don’t
- Use Kin & Kettle for anything unlawful, or to harm anyone.
- Post anything hateful, harassing or explicit, or spam and advertising, in anything others can see.
- Try to get into other people’s accounts or families, or interfere with the service.
If an account or family breaks these terms, we may lock or close it. We won’t do that lightly, and where we can, we’ll tell you why first.
Closing your account
You can delete your account from your account page. It’s removed after 14 days (signing in before then keeps it). If you’re the last admin of a family, the family, its recipes and its plan go with it.
Cooking safely
Recipes come from families, not from us. Use your own judgment about ingredients, allergies, cooking temperatures and food safety. Scaled amounts are worked out automatically, so check them before you cook.
The legal part
- We work hard to keep Kin & Kettle running and your recipes safe, but we provide it “as is”, without promises that it will always be available or free of errors. Keep a download of recipes that matter to you.
- As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas.
- If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top and tell account holders about important changes before they take effect.
