Privacy policy

Last updated October 2026

This policy is from Kin & Kettle (“we”, “us”), who run Kin & Kettle. Your family’s recipes are yours. This page explains what we keep, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, contact us.

The short version

  • Your recipes are kept private to your family. Other families and visitors never see them unless someone in your family chooses to share one.
  • Only our small team can reach the app’s data, and only to run, support and improve Kin & Kettle. We don’t sell it, and we don’t share it with anyone except the service providers below, who run parts of the service for us.
  • No ad tracking: advertising networks don’t follow you here, and we don’t sell your information.
  • You can download your recipes, and delete your account, whenever you like.

What we keep

  • Your account: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash, never readable), and which families you belong to and your role in each.
  • Your family’s cookbook: recipes, photos, notes and stories, favorites, “I made this” reviews and their photos, cookbooks, meal plans and shopping lists. Photos are shrunk in your browser before upload, which also removes hidden location data.
  • Billing: your plan and its status. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
  • Gifts: the buyer’s and recipient’s names and email addresses and any message, to deliver the gift.
  • How the service is used: simple records such as signing in, viewing a recipe, starting cooking mode or printing, so we can see what helps families and fix what doesn’t. Error reports, with no recipe content, are kept for 90 days.
  • Security: a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address when you sign up, reset a password or report a recipe, to stop abuse. We don’t keep the address itself.

How we use it

To run Kin & Kettle: show your family its recipes, send the emails you need (confirming your address, invites, password links, gift and billing notices, and our newsletter if you’ve said yes to it), take payments, keep the service secure, answer your questions, and understand which features families use so we can make it better. We don’t use your recipes for advertising, and we don’t sell or rent your information to anyone.

Who can see what

  • Your family: everyone in a family sees its recipes. Admins manage who’s in it.
  • Anyone with a share link to a recipe, if someone in your family makes one. Stopping the link ends it at once.
  • The community: only recipes someone in your family chooses to publish, after we review them. They show the credit chosen (a name, or the family’s name). Other families can add a copy to their own collection, and those copies stay with them.
  • Our team: a small number of us can reach the app’s data, only to run and support the service, look into problems you report, and keep it safe. We treat it as confidential.

Service providers

These companies run parts of Kin & Kettle for us. They may only use your information to provide their service to us:

  • Supabase: our database, sign-in and photo storage.
  • Vercel: hosting the website.
  • Stripe: payments and subscriptions.
  • GoHighLevel (and Resend as a back-up): sending our emails, and keeping your name, email address and plan so we can contact you about your account.
  • Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager), when analytics cookies are on (see below). It never receives your recipes, your name or your email address, and pages in your family’s cookbook are reported only by their type (for example “a recipe page”), never by their content.

Cookies and storage in your browser

  • Needed to work: a sign-in cookie, and one that remembers which family you’re viewing.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics cookies. In the European Union and EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Quebec, they’re used only if you accept. Elsewhere they’re on unless you opt out. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as opting out. Either way, everything still works without them, and we never use ad cookies. You can change your choice at any time:

    Cookie choices

The cookies we need to sign you in are always on. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) show us how people use the site, never what’s in your recipes. There are no ad cookies.

Analytics cookies are off in this browser.

, also at the bottom of every page.
  • Conveniences on your device: things like your place in cooking mode, a recipe’s servings, your print choice and your cookie choice are saved in your browser only, never sent to us.

How long we keep it

  • As long as your account is open. A deleted recipe can be restored for 30 days, then it and its photos are removed for good.
  • When you delete your account, it’s removed after 14 days (signing in before then keeps it). A family you’re the last admin of is deleted with it, recipes and photos included.
  • Billing records may be kept longer where the law requires it.

Your choices

  • Download your family’s recipes at any time, on every plan.
  • Change your password on your account page. To change your name or email address, contact us.
  • Choose whether you get our newsletter on Manage → Emails, or use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
  • Delete your account from your account page.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, through our contact page.

Children

Accounts are for people 13 and older. Families can, of course, cook together: a parent’s account can hold the whole family’s recipes.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top, and tell account holders about anything important before it takes effect.
